Race: Utah Valley 2012 10k (6.25 Miles) 00:38:42, Place overall: 2, Place in age division: 2
Total Distance
7.00

Woke up at six A.M, got changed and ran about 0.8 to the start of the Utah Valley 2012 10k. I stayed with the leader until just before mile one, then my (treacherous) shoe fell off and I lost about ten seconds putting it back on. By that time the leader was out of reach.

I forgot to bring a watch, and with no visible targets, challengers or any indication of the pace other than pain, I lapsed into the 6:10-6:20 pace range. I still had plenty of juice for a kick in the last 300, which suggests I could have gone faster.

Total time was 38:42, about a minute slower than hoped for, but still a respectable time. Overall place was second. (Snicker. The only reason I placed so high with a 38:42, was because almost everyone really fast,  all the "big guns", were competing in the half and full marathon. )

Very nice run Benjamin! It won't be long until you are one of the "big guns" tearing up the roads in the longer races! :-)
